A few months ago, I received a response from Del Monte to my request for goodies. They said that at this time they do not have any promotional items to send to me. With their letter, they included two coupons for $1 off for any Del Monte canned food, snack cup, ketchup or pickles.
The odd thing is that I did not directly contact Del Monte, and looking back at the letters that I sent it was hard to see a direct connection to Del Monte. In fact, as I sat down to write this piece, I had no idea who I wrote to reach Del Monte.
I’ve only contacted a few canned product companies. But once I started looking at the Del Monte product line, I was able to guess that the company I contacted would be a packer of tomato sauce. It turns out that the tomato sauce packers that I’ve contacted are Red Gold and Contadina. In May, I wrote about the goodies received from Red Gold, so that leaves Contadina. Sure enough on the Contadina history page, they mention that Del Monte Foods purchased them in 1997.
I find it interesting that Contadina has its own contact address in California on both the website and on their product can, yet I got a response from Del Monte in Pennsylvania.
Did my letter get bounced around or is all mail re-routed? I guess I’ll never know, but thanks for the coupons.
