Celestial Seasonings’ batch of goodies was truly a boatload – one full six box case of Moroccan Pomegranate Red tea! Normally, I do not count quantity as a significance factor, but in this case it seems as if I should. Luckily, this is still an innovative product as it takes the South African rooibos tea and blends it with Pomegranate turning it into a traditional feeling Celestial Seasonings tea with a wonderful painting of a monkey enjoying a cup of Pomegranate tea.

A full case of Celestial Seasonings' Moroccan Pomegranate Red tea!

The tea is enjoyable. The taste is similar in some ways to the classic Red Zinger. However its acidity is much milder than Red Zinger and it has a black tea like taste – which must be the rooibos because the tea is caffeine free. Rooibos tea is a red tea prepared with the leaves of the South African rooibos shrub. In addition to a nice flavor it is packed with antioxidants and is organically grown. The mild tartness that is has is from hibiscus.

The tea made my wife think of a wonderful set of books which we both read and enjoyed recently, The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series of books. The books are about the story of an African woman (Mma Ramotswe) who starts the only woman owned detective agency in Botswana or maybe all of Africa. She and her assistant drink tea – most-likely rooibos – daily. This book was a bestseller a few years ago – probably for the writing and the beautiful African scenery described.

The books are simple and easy to read. The author takes the type to develop all of the characters very well.
